Managed Repeats Service
Our Managed Repeats Service is designed to take the work out of ordering regular repeat prescriptions.
For patients registered with Mendlesham or Bacton Surgery, we can coordinate the repeat medicines on the patients behalf, ensure requests are made on time, and have everything prepared for collection.
This service reduces delays, prevents missed doses, and keeps the patients medicines on track with minimal effort. Just ask our Dispensary team.
Ordering repeat prescriptions
If you take medicine regularly, you’ll usually have a repeat prescription. This means you can order your medicine without having to see a GP every time.
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6.30pm
We do not accept telephone requests (to avoid any possible prescribing errors).
If the medication you need is not listed on your repeat slip, or if you are unable to order your repeat prescription in the usual way, please select the Medication Queries button above.
This will redirect you to the SystmConnect page, where you should select Medication Queries again and complete the online questionnaire. Please complete the form with as much information as possible so we can deal with your request quickly and safely.
This questionnaire can be used for any medication-related request, including:
– repeat prescriptions you are unable to order as usual
– reporting side effects
– medication concerns or questions
– prescription errors or missing items
Submitting the questionnaire ensures your request is reviewed and directed to the appropriate team: Start Online Consultation
Collecting your prescription
Repeat prescriptions will be available for collection five working days after they are ordered. When ordering after 6.30pm, before 8am or at weekends or Bank Holidays, the fifth working days starts the next day the surgery is open.
We will send you a text message when your prescription is ready. Please do not come to collect your medication until you have received this message.
- On rare occasions, a text message may be missed. If you are unsure whether your medication is ready to collect, please use the Medication Queries button and ask us via the online questionnaire.
When ordering your prescription, please let us know if you wish to collect from the Mendlesham or Bacton dispensary.
Alternatively, you may nominate any pharmacy of your choosing, in which case your prescription will be sent electronically via the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).

Speak to our Dispensary Team
For all medication queries and requests (including acute requests), please use the Medication Queries button to send us an online message.
You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire – please include as much detail as possible, as this helps us deal with your request quickly and safely.
If you are unable to complete the online questionnaire, you may contact the dispensary by phone.

Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to complete a regular review. Most medication reviews can be completed using our online form.
Alternatively, you can book a telephone appointment with a member of our medicines management team.
If you are unsure which option is most appropriate, please complete the medication queries questionnaire by selecting the button at the top of the page.
- We may carry out a background medication review and will contact you if anything further is required (for example, blood tests or a blood pressure reading).

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Think Pharmacy First
Patients can now see a pharmacist first and do not need a GP appointment or a prescription to get advice and treatment for certain conditions.
